The United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day on December 11, 2014. PM Modi suggested this in his address to the UN General Assembly and the idea was supported by 177 member states, which adopted it without a vote. The HRD Ministry has asked all states to make yoga compulsory in school curriculum and the course is expected to start from the coming academic session, Minister of State for AYUSH(Ayurveda, Yoga & Naturopathy, Unani, Siddha and Homoeopathy), Shripad Yesso Naik said on Friday. He further said “We have told them that whoever wants to do Yoga, they should be allowed to do Yoga. Otherwise physical training is adjusted in the same period,” he said”.
